Terms & CONDITIONS

1. Under 18s

All under 18s must book with a responsible leader who is over 18. For every group of six under 18s, one over 18 must be named. These group leaders are therefore responsible for the delegates under their care at ALL times and must ensure their welfare during the event. They will be required to provide a contact number for the duration of the event.

Children are allocated to the appropriate kid’s groups according to their age at the time of the event. When they are not in the kid’s work venues, children are the responsibility of their parents. Always know where your children are, who they are with and when they are expected back. Please see the website for our safeguarding policy.

2. Booking deadlines

Magnitude might offer a discount on the full booking fee if you book before a certain date. We call these booking deadlines. These deadlines will be advertised in advance. To qualify for the discount you must book and pay IN FULL before the advertised deadline date. If you start a booking before the deadline, this will not secure a discount.

3. Refunds/Transfers

If you wish to cancel your booking you may do so at any time, but you must contact Magnitude by email to notify us if you would like a refund as this will not be issued automatically. There is an admin fee of £20 for cancellations made before the cancellation deadline of 31st May.

After the cancellation deadline Magnitude is unable to refund fees in the event of cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances. We recommend you take out holiday insurance.

Even if you were not aware of the refund deadline, we cannot give a refund after that date.

Magnitude offers a free transfer of a ticket from one delegate to another until 31st May. After this date all wristbands are printed and therefore transfers cannot be conducted in the office and will need to be done on site upon arrival. Any transfers made after the 1st of June and therefore on site will incur a cost of £10 per transfer for a replacement wristband.

Please note anyone who does not correctly transfer a ticket and is found onsite wearing an incorrect wristband will incur a cost of £40.

4.  Making a Change

Should you require to change information which you have sent us as part of the booking process, please contact us by email, phone or letter. Once the change has been made, we will send a confirmation to the email address you gave us when making the booking.

5.  Please Inform Us

In order to ensure that we have team members and facilities to meet your young person's needs, you should inform us of any health, disability, social, behavioural or additional support needs which may affect your young person whilst at Magnitude. Please complete the basic information requested when making your booking. It is particularly helpful to know details of any allergies or special requirements. We may contact you for more information.  Young people with Additional Support Needs are welcome at Magnitude.

6.  Behaviour

The site rules for our summer events will be available on our website. The Magnitude team are there to enforce these rules and may ask you to change your behaviour, especially if they think there is a risk to other people. If you do not comply with the site rules, the Magnitude may ask you to leave the site.

For any Magnitude event, your booking may be cancelled or you may be asked to leave the event at any time at our discretion. In these circumstances, no refund will be available.

7. Parental Consent

It is understood that by making a booking you are giving permission for your young person to take part in the activities listed, as well as the general activities such as swimming, indoor and outdoor games, crafts and the Christian teaching which make up the programme at the festival.

8.  Safety & Supervision

The safety and welfare of the young people come first, and we ensure high levels of adult supervision. We maintain a high ratio of adults to young people; some are SU Scotland employees, but most are volunteers who give their own time (and contribute to their own costs) in order to run Magnitude events. Our volunteers are accredited via a careful vetting and selection process, which includes obtaining a PVG Scheme Record for all volunteers.

We are licensed by AALA to provide watersports, climbing and trekking. Activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking and other outdoor pursuits are always supervised by qualified instructors. We have many years of experience running residential events for young people in Scotland and work continuously to improve our events and ensure that we meet or exceed current legislation.  SU Scotland events have an excellent safety record, which we strive to maintain.

9.  Programme

While every endeavour will be made to implement the programme as published, we reserve the right to make alterations should circumstances make this necessary, for example, weather conditions.

10. Being on team

In order to be accepted onto a volunteer team at Magnitude, we will require extra information about you. The first step is to complete the online application process which includes:

  • Self-disclosure questions, where you must truthfully disclose any relevant information about yourself as directed.

  • Safeguarding questions, where you must agree to follow our child protection guidelines.

There will be subsequent steps to your application which includes a reference from your church leader so please ensure that you give accurate and up to date information in the reference section about the leader of your church.

You may also be asked to complete PVG check. The check will disclose to us and to yourself whether you have any notes on your criminal record which relate to working with children or young people.

11.  Insurance

Magnitude is covered by Scripture Union Scotland's Public Liability Insurance. We strongly recommend that you take out insurance to cover belongings, personal accident or in case you need to cancel. Please note that to be covered for cancellation, you should take out insurance as soon as possible after your booking is confirmed.

12.  Photographs & Filming

By attending a Magnitude event you agree that your image may be captured and used by Magnitude. This may be in photographs or other digital media and may be used for promotional materials or other information which we produce.

You can opt out of this by speaking to the photographer or asking us to remove your image by contacting the Magnitude media team during the event or after it. You can ask any Magnitude team member for information on how to do this.

13.  Complaints

If there is any problem during Magnitude, we would like to know as soon as possible so that we can do our utmost to put it right. If the problem is not dealt with to your satisfaction, please contact us either in writing or by phone as soon as possible. Scripture Union Scotland has a written complaints procedure (suscotland.org.uk/feedback) that is available on request. We are always keen to find ways to make our events even better. Please let us know your comments.

Please note:

  • We reserve the right to refuse any booking.

  • Our normal method of communication will be by email. Please supply your email address when making your booking.

14. Changes to these terms

These terms and conditions may be changed from time to time to keep you up to date with our policies. Please ensure that you review these terms and conditions regularly. By continuing to use the site, you agree to any changes made to the terms and conditions.
